1960's

The 60's were undoubtedly a most formative period for Graham, who, like all musicians, of the time, were influenced by the heady new emerging sounds, and freedom of possibilities offered by social liberation. In this context, he perfected and honed his considerable drumming skills to be able play any kind of music, with metronomic precision. During this period, Graham was head hunted by the Troggs just before there major hit Wild Thing, ( he turned the offer down because they were unable to pay him, and offered him a job window cleaning!! ), and narrowly missed playing in a band with Eric Clapton!!. Throughout the 60's, Graham worked in a department store in Portsmouth, and met and married his wife Janet.

Graham played in several Bands during this period including The J Crow Combo ( joined 1963 ) , The Academy ( 1966-67 ), Cherry Smash ( 1967-69 ) and a band fronted by Gary Glitter's brother, Tony Gadd - who is reputed to have punched Graham so hard during a heated moment that he fell backwards off his drumkit!!! ( Graham was known to have a sharp tongue and not to suffer fools gladly ).

The J Crow Combo consisted of Graham Hunt drums, Colin Wood bass, and John Crow sax.

The Academy consisted of Marc Tuddenham guitar/vocals, Rod Watts Keyboards, Graham Barnes bass/vocals, and Graham Hunt.

Cherry Smash consisted of Marc Tuddenham, Graham Hunt, John Curtis, and Brian Hug.

In 1969 Graham joined Aubrey Small, where his singer/songwriting talents and drumming skills made a significant contribution to the  band, who went on to record.
